A Visit to the Village of Philipsburg

Join us for three guided tours that
explore the 18th century world of Frederick Philipse III.
Tour 1: Philipse Manor Hall, 29 Warburton Ave,
Yonkers. Heather Iannucci, Historic Site
Manager, will give a tour of the Manor Hall that focuses on the Philipse family,
the household they set up in Yonkers, and the improvements they made to the Manor
Hall in the late 18th century. approximately 30 minutes

Tour 2: Walking tour from PMH to St. John’s. Nina Wasserman, Education and Programs
Associate, will explore the landscape surrounding the Manor Hall using maps and
images to understand the area as the Philipses would have known it, while
considering the changes that the family made to the land. approximately 20 minutes
Tour 3: St. John’s Church, One Hudson St, Yonkers. Fr.
John Hamilton, Priest at St. John’s Church, will discuss the history of the
parish, the Enlightenment Philosophy prevalent at the founding of the church
and reflected in its architecture, and describe a service as it would have been
on a Sunday morning in the 18th century. approximately 30 minutes

PMH has a small lot and meters are available on Warburton Ave and
Dock St.
Paid Parking is available in the new indoor lot next door to PMH on
Warburton Ave.

the grounds of the Manor Hall
