On Wednesday, May 14 at 12 p.m., join Julian Adams, Director of the Bureau of Community Preservation for the New York State Historic Preservation Office to learn about and discuss the behind-the-scenes work that goes into preserving a historic site. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk with Adams about how his office addresses issues of historic preservation related to the Manor Hall and the Yonkers community. A Celebration of African-American Music

Concert and Gala

In honor of African-American Music Appreciation Month and Juneteenth, 

the Friends of Philipse Manor Hall presents an exciting evening of music, food, and wine. 

The concert, featuring Blues, Jazz, Art Song, Opera, and more, will be led by

acclaimed soprano, Yolanda F. Johnson.  Ms. Johnson has assembled an

incredible line-up of performers to celebrate the works of African-American composers.

VINNIE BAGWELL AND FRIENDS OF PHILIPSE MANOR HALL PRESENT

ENSLAVED AFRICANS' RAIN GARDEN EXHIBITION

Local sculptor Vinnie Bagwell has proposed an extensive public-art project that will commemorate the enslaved Africans who resided at Philipse Manor Hall in Yonkers–six of whom were among the first to be manumitted by law in the United States, 76 years before the Emancipation Proclamation. This exhibition in the Community Art Gallery of Philipse Manor Hall will feature five maquettes of the planned life-sized sculptures and will include historical information pertaining to slavery in Westchester.  The exhibit is designed to introduce the public to the Enslaved Africans’ Rain Garden concept.  

Admission to the Community Gallery is Free.
